Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)
1. Also known as Nitrogen tetroxide, Nitrogen dioxide is of the solution:
Nitrogen
Oxygen
2. Nitrogen dioxide is a reddish-brown gas with a strong, harsh odor. It is formed when Nitrite oxide mixes with oxygen.
3. Nitrogen dioxide is a big contributor in the atmospheric reactions that cause ground-level ozone. It greatly affects the human health by causing acute bronchitis/pneumonia.
4. Burning wood and or kerosene causes high concentration exposures.
5. Straight activated carbon has a low capacity for Nitrogen Dioxide. The use of an appropriate specially impregnated carbon is recommended.
